ROLE DESCRIPTION: VICE PRESIDENT of TECHNOLOGY & DATA

The Vice President of Technology & Data, reporting to the President, is responsible for all things marketing technology, data, analytics and research. This is our operating scientist who has a grasp on the numbers and technical information our chapter needs to be THE marketing source in the Magic City. Capturing the right analytics and data informs our business operations, marketing strategies and helps our chapter make effective, targeted and informed decisions as we enrich our community of marketing professionals.

The VP of Tech & Data covers various areas and will frequently collaborate with the Board on membership, programming, sponsorships, communications, public relations, collegiate relations and community engagement.

This VP brings the insights, knowledge, research and helps us implement and execute to reach our strategic goals and bring value to our members and community.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develops and implement AMA Birmingham’s technology and data/analytics strategy with measurable results
  • Implements technology and data area of Chapter Strategic Plan, bringing expertise and insights to guide the chapter
  • Builds/recruits the committee to implement activities for chapter
  • Oversees execution of technology and data analytics activities by committee. Roles may include:
    • Assistant Vice President of Data & Privacy
    • Director of Marketing Analytics (Digital marketing and
    • Director of Audio & Visual Technology
    • Director of Membership Data
    • Director of Research & Human Behavior
  • Works closely with the VP of Marketing & Communications (MarComm) to maintain the website and utilize analytics to improve landing pages, email and social media.
    • Works with VP of MarComm to manage email technology and general website updates
    • Conducts website audits
    • Assists with integrations: events calendar, job board, contact forms
    • Assist with email templates and integrations as necessary
  • Works closely with the VP of Sponsorship to mine data and help present statistics and valuable information to build sponsorship packages.
  • Works closely with the VP of Membership to mine and capture membership data and present statistics and valuable information to build the membership recruitment kit.
  • Works closely with the VP of Programming to mine data, gather analytics to improve programming.
    • Owns audio and visual technology operation for luncheons and workshops and webinars, depending on venue policies.
    • Assists with digital presentations for luncheons
  • Tracks marketing campaigns, understands user behavior on
  • AMA Birmingham websites, and turns data into actionable insights
  • Works with website sponsor (Infomedia) to handle website updates
  • Creates a succession plan for VP position, as well as any other technology documentation
  • Prepares a final report evaluating the year’s activities based on initial goals and objectives. Include final budget figures and recommendations for the following year. This will be the basis of the CEA entry for communications/technology, along with supporting examples required for the entry form.


Commitment

  • Serves up 4-8 hours per week
  • Attends AMA Birmingham programs and events
  • Attends monthly executive Board meetings
  • Oversees committee of Directors and leads meetings
  • Monthly reporting of data and analytics

 

Qualifications

  • Active AMA Birmingham member (required)
  • Degree in marketing, business administration, business development, advertising, communications or related professional experience
  • Experience with data analytics, digital marketing, communications technology including email platforms, and website CMS (WordPress).
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, coordinating across a large, dynamic organization with multiple board members and committees
