ROLE DESCRIPTION – VICE PRESIDENT of MEMBERSHIP

The Vice President of Membership, reporting to the President, is responsible for creating a plan to drive member retention and acquisition and leads a team of committee members and volunteers in executing that plan.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements AMA Birmingham FY membership plan, with measurable results and specific dates, for committee activities
  • Prepares and manages budget for AMA Birmingham FY membership plan
  • Develops quarterly direct marketing campaigns in conjunction with AMA membership drives
  • Keeps a constant pulse on the health of the membership of the organization. Continually monitors and conducts membership surveys, recommending action plans where necessary
  • Oversees and has ownership of a committee team consisting of AVP of Membership, Director of Membership Experience, Director of Membership – Collegiate Relations, and Director of Volunteer Engagement
  • Works to recruit and retain top talent of Director roles and committee volunteers
  • Continually helps recruit companies for the AMA group membership
  • Oversees management of the volunteer program
  • Educates Board members on AMA value proposition
  • Manages chapter data including member and prospect lists, sharing with other Board members as appropriate
  • Prepares a final report evaluating the year’s activities based on initial goals and objectives. Include final budget figures and recommendations for the following year. This will be the basis of the CEA entry for membership, along with supporting examples required for the entry form.
  • Creates a succession plan for VP position, as well as any other membership documentation
  • Keeps President and President-Elect informed on membership and any other necessary committee updates

Commitment

  • Serves 4-8 hours per week
  • Attends AMA Birmingham programs and events
  • Attends monthly Executive Board meetings
  • Oversees committee of three to four Directors of Membership
  • Provides monthly board report/committee update and dashboard numbers to Secretary before each executive Board meeting
  • Monitors membership budget
  • Schedules and leads monthly membership committee call/meeting

Qualifications

  • Active AMA Birmingham member (required)
  • Degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related professional experience
  • Experience with Asana preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Successful track record of building, motivating and managing a team
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, coordinating across a large, dynamic organization with multiple board members and committees
