ROLE DESCRIPTION: VICE PRESIDENT OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
The Vice President of DEI, reporting to the President, is responsible for driving and increasing diversity in our speakers, partnerships, board members, and members at all levels.
Specific Responsibilities
- Develops and takes ownership of the diversity plan, budget and metrics reporting
- Develops strategies for improving our practices and culture
- Helps AMA Birmingham’s community understand the concepts and terminology around diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Guides our efforts to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all people
- Presents resources and ideas to guide and receive cultural differences in a positive way within our organization and during our events
- Assists with community engagement to build new relationships and awareness for AMA Birmingham community
- Builds relationships with strategic groups and organizations and encourages participation in AMA Birmingham events and programming. Tracks participation in the chapter.Â
- Helps identify talented and motivated individuals for volunteer and leadership positions
- Works directly with VP of Communications, VP of Membership and VP of Programs to ensure diversity initiatives and messages are communicated and executed
- Creates and organizes diversity programming during the year
Commitment
- Serves 2-5 hours per week
- Attends AMA Birmingham programs and events
- Attends monthly Executive Board meetings
- Provides monthly board report/committee update and dashboard numbers to Secretary before each executive Board meeting
Qualifications
- Active AMA Birmingham member (required)
- Degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related field with experience leading diversity advocacy initiatives
- Experience with Asana preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally, coordinating across a large, dynamic organization with multiple board members and committees
